CHRISTIAN?

Source : 26/08/1989 Northampton Chronicle and Echo

I write in response to your coverage of the pig farm blaze probe (Chronicle and Echo August 23).

I have for sometime been labouring under the delusion that Christians were sensitive, thoughtful folk, always willing to put God's creatures' well being on their list of priorities. What flagrant hypocrisy!

To imprison hundreds of pigs in intensive units with little or no chance of escape should disaster strike can only be described as inhumane.

To quote Mr. Shield 'I dread to think what this is going to cost'. It implies his only concern is his profit margin. The pigs' destiny was to be a terrifying ordeal at the slaughter house anyway.

Perhaps while he and the rest of the 'army' are mourning their loss of profit they could perhaps reflect of whether their grisly trade is Christian or not.
