RAPE CHARGE

A man was due to appear before magistrates in Northamptonshire today charged with rape.

The 23-year-old, who has not yet been named, is accused of raping a woman in a house in Nether Heyford on Friday night.

He was arrested in the village during the early hours of Saturday and taken to Weston Favell police station where he was questioned by detectives.

Later that day he was charged with rape and held in police custody over the weekend until his appearance at Towcester Magistrates Court today.
