The best business in Northamptonshire were recognised at a glittering ceremony last night.

Companies from across the county were recognised at the annual Northamptonshire Excellence in Business Awards evening which was held at Northampton's Moat House.

The awards, organised by the Chronicle and Echo, our sister paper the Evening Telegraph and Northamptonshire Chamber, were hosted by comedian and writer Barry Cryer OBE.

More than 300 people were there to see some of the leading businesses in Northamptonshire receive their awards.

Martin Wylie, chief executive of Northamptonshire Chamber said the awards proved the success of the county's business economy.

'It is good to see examples of the many successes of Northamptonshire companies. Many companies are thriving and we are delighted to be involved in these excellent awards which highlight the very positive things about the county's economy.'

The standard of entry was extremely high in this year's awards and managing director of Northampton Newspapers Chris Pennock said the panel of independent judges had a very difficult job.

'The judging was completely independent and I know the panel had an incredibly difficult task to separate many outstanding entrants in every category.'

'These awards recognise some outstanding achievements and every company nominated in the categories was a winner.'

'These awards have become the most prestigious business event in the county and we are delighted to be able to play a part in recognising the commitment, flair and dedication of so many companies and business people.

Although not a category winner, Highly commended were Daventry firm Atmos Heating Systems in 'The Innovation Award' category.
